Biochem/physiol Actions

Nodinitib-1 (ML130) is a selectiove inhibitor of of the nucleotide oligomerization domain (NOD)-1 receptor, which is involved in innate immune response and has been associated with several inflammatory diseases. NOD1 and NOD2 recognize distinct structures derived from bacterial peptidoglycans and directly activate NF-?B pathway, which controls the production of proinflammatory molecules. Nodinitib-1 has 40:1 selectivity for NOD1 over NOD2.

Induction of nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain 2 (NOD2) and downstream receptor-interacting serine/threonine-protein kinase 2 (RIPK2) by human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is known to up-regulate antiviral responses and suppress virus replication. We investigated the role of nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain 1 (NOD1), which also

Epidemiologic studies have reported an inverse relationship between childhood Helicobacter pylori infection and development of allergic asthma. Because lung epithelium plays an important role in allergic asthma pathogenesis, we hypothesized that H. pylori may directly influence airway epithelial cell innate

Obesity is associated with inflammation that can drive metabolic defects such as hyperlipidemia and insulin resistance. Specific metabolites can contribute to inflammation, but nutrient intake and obesity are also associated with altered bacterial load in metabolic tissues (i.e. metabolic endotoxemia).
