Gene Information

human ... KAT5(10524)

General description

The TIP60 (HIV1 (human immunodeficiency virus 1)-TAT interactive protein) gene is mapped to human chromosome 11q13.1. It is ubiquitously expressed and evolutionarily conserved. The encoded protein, Tip60 belongs to the MYST (Moz, Ybf2/Sas3, Sas2 and TIP60) family.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human TIP60 around the phosphorylation site of Ser86.

Immunogen Range: 52-101

Application

TIP60 (HIV1-TATinteractive protein) possess acetyltransferase activity and participates in chromatin remodeling and DNA damage repair. TIP60 is involved in protein stabilization and protein function modulation. The presence of chromodomain and MYST domain in its structure enables acetylation of both histone and non-histone proteins. TIP60 in association with androgenic receptors and transcription factors can control gene transcription and cell cycle process. TIP60 mediates p53 action to induce apoptosis. TIP60 inhibits Hepatitis B virus infection. TIP60 acts as a haploinsufficient tumor suppressor.

Recently, we showed that DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) are increased by the Aβ 42-amyloid peptide and decreased by all-trans retinoic acid (RA) in SH-SY5Y cells and C57BL/6J mice. The present work was aimed at investigating DSBs in cells and murine
