General description

Interleukin 1 (IL-5) exists as a homodimer and elicits its cytokine functions via interleukin receptor (IL-5R). It mediates the maturation of eosinophils. IL-5 also exhibits pleiotropic effects on B cells favoring cell survival and differentiation. Due to its key role in eosinophilia and immune response, IL-5 serves as a potential therapeutic target in treating eosinophil-mediated disorders. The Human IL-5 ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of human interleukin (IL-5) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants and urine.
