Recombinant luciferin 4-monooxygenase (Luciferase)

Application

Anti-Luciferase antibody produced in chicken is suitable for western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Luciferase is a member of the class of oxidative enzymes essential for bioluminescence. The term is originated from Lucifer; one example is firefly luciferase from the firefly Photinus pyralis. Its unique properties have spawned a number of novel applications of this protein. Luciferase has a number of applications such as a reporter gene, as a model for the study of protein import into peroxisomes and as a component of a heterologous gene expression system. Its structure reveals a new protein fold, which may act as a representative of a growing family of homologous enzymes.
