General description

Methyl green is a widely used nuclei counterstain for histochemical methods. Methyl green binds to the DNA major groove and is used for tracking triplex formation. The positive charge on the aniline rings in the methyl green enables its strong binding to DNA. Methyl green aids clear visualization in confocal laser scanning microscopy.

Application

Deoxyribonucleic acid methyl green has been used in DNA methyl green bioassay.
