General description

Price includes Federal Tax.
Pure ethyl alcohol is a non-denatured 200proof ethanol. Ethanol, a primary alcohol, is an important raw material for the synthesis of various compounds. It can be synthesized either from molasses by fermentation or by hydration of ethylene. It acts as a hydrogen source and reaction medium during the transfer hydrogenation of carbonyl compounds in the presence of sodium hydroxide. The impact of ethanol/water fumigation on the performance of diesel engines has been studied. Spectrophotometric grade solvent is of high purity with low UV absorption.
We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products, which adhere to one or more of The 12 Principles of Greener Chemistry. Ethanol is environmentally preferable green solvent and thus it aligns with "Safer Solvents and Auxiliaries" and "Use of Renewable Feedstocks".

Application

Pure ethyl alcohol (Ethanol) has been used to prepare:
  • Ethanol solution for the synthesis of Ga-68 DOTATATE [DOTA-(Tyr3)-octreotate (where DOTA = 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclo- dodecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetic acid)] by an automated synthesis system.
  • Aristolochic acid stock solution for the spectrophotometric analysis.
  • Core silica particles of nanoshells by a modified Stöber method.
  • Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) solution in combination with water for synthesizing PVP ultrafine fibers by solution (air-) blowing method.
