Application

Antimony(III) chloride (SbCl3) is a Lewis acid catalyst that is used in various organic reactions such as polymerization, Friedel-Crafts acylations, reductions with NaBH4, ring opening of epoxides, cleavage of trityl ethers, Biginelli and chlorination reactions. It is also used as a precursor to synthesize other antimony salts.
