General description

Aluminum sulfate octadecahydrate (Al2(SO4)3.18H2O) is a hydrated aluminum salt. It is used as a catalyst and cross-linker during chemical reactions. Aluminum sulfate octadecahydrate is also used as a coagulating agent/flocculating agent in the purification of drinking water and wastewater treatment plants. It is also used in the paper industry for sizing.

Application

Aluminum sulfate octadecahydrate is used:
  • As a trace water source in the synthesis of cancrinite zeolite from geophagic clay.
  • In the solvent free synthesis of ZSM-5 Zeolites from rice husk silica.
  • In the preparation of polymeric metal complex dyes.
