suitability

Aeromonas spp.
selective and differential for Pseudomonas spp.

General description

Agar is a complex gelatinous carbohydrate, and is added to the LB broth (Lysogeny broth, Luria broth, Lennox broth, or Luria-Bertani medium), in order to form gel for bacteria to grow upon. LB Broth is the most widely used nutritionally rich medium, for the culture and growth of bacteria. There are several different formulations of Lb broth, but the composition is generally the same comprising of peptides and casein peptones, trace elements, mineral and vitamins.

Application

For the detection of Pseudomonas and Aeromonas in all types of food as well as in the equipment and water supply of food-processing firms.

Preparation Note

Dissolve 45 g in 1 litre distilled water and sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes. Cool to 45-50°C and add 100′000 IU/l Penicillin G (Cat. No. 13752; 60mg/l) and if desired 10 mg/l Pimaricin (Cat. No. 80482; 400ul/l). Mix well and pour into sterile petri plates.

Other Notes

A medium for selective cultivation of Pseudomonas and Aeromonas; The aerobic Pseudomonas - a taxonomic study

Footnote

We offer two media types: the superior granulated GranuCult® and the cost-efficient powdered NutriSelect® culture media, depending on your needs.
The designations basic, plus, or prime are added to indicate the quality control level, from basic quality control to standard QC plus to prime for full regulatory compliance.
