General description

The eMcollect sponge stick is a sampling device specifically engineered for surface sampling in food safety and hygiene assessments. The sterile sponge stick with premium quality cellulose sponge swab is essential for laboratories and food industry professionals seeking reliable and effective sampling solutions. The sponge stick is used to check the quality of the disinfection processes, even in the presence of residual disinfectants that may be present on the sampled surface. The sponge stick is blue and made of plastic equipped with release clamps. It comes in an easy-to-open blue pre-cut sampling bag along with a blank area for writing sample information. The bag is supplied with an adhesive closure label for sample protection. Buffered Peptone water with a 10 % neutralizing agent, calibrated to a dose of 10 mL is used as a diluent.

Application

eMcollect sponge stick is used for microbial sampling of surfaces in food processing environments, such as countertops, equipment, and utensils. This helps to determine the presence of pathogens or contaminants, ensuring compliance with food safety standards. After cleaning and disinfection processes, these sponge sticks can be employed to verify the effectiveness of these procedures. The common pathogens that can be detected are Listeria spp. and Salmonella spp. etc.

Features and Benefits

  • Sterility Assurance: Each sponge stick undergoes gamma-ray sterilization, with a minimum dosage of 20 kiloGrays, ensuring they are free from contaminants.
  • High-Quality Materials: The sponge is made of premium quality cellulose of 8 x 4 cm size, with a thickness ranging from 1.2 to 1.6 cm. The sponge is encased in a blue plastic sleeve equipped with release clamps for easy handling.
