General description

A PAK (p21-activated kinase) inhibitor peptide that is composed of the cell permeant TAT peptide sequence and an 18-mer Pro-rich PIX-interacting motif of PAK that disrupts PIX-PAK interaction, reduces cellular PAK phosphorylation, and induces neurodegenerative morphology in hippocampal neurons in vitro. Intracerebroventricular administration of PAK18 in mice resulted in Alzheimer-like disease phenotype in vivo. PIX-interacting motif sequence has also been shown to block ras-dependent tumor growth and PAK activation in NIH-3T3 cells. The inactive control peptide, PAK18-R192A, is also available (Cat. No. 506102).
