General description

N-Desmethyltapentadol is a primary urinary and blood metabolite of the analgesic tapentadol (Nucynta®). This certified reference solution is suitable for numerous GC/MS or LC/MS applications from pharmaceutical testing and prescription pain monitoring to forensic analysis or clinical toxicology. Tapentadol is prescribed for treatment of both acute and chronic pain.

Application

  • Fatal intoxication study: A detailed case report investigated fatal intoxication by tapentadol, including the study of N-desmethyltapentadol′s distribution and metabolism, providing crucial data for the forensic analysis(Carelli et al., 2021).

  • Opioid screening assay: An advanced targeted opioid screening assay using high-resolution mass spectrometry was developed, which includes the detection of N-desmethyltapentadol, enhancing the accuracy of pain management and drug monitoring studies (Danso et al., 2019).
