General description

This stable-labeled internal standard is suitable for carisoprodol testing or isotope dilution methods by LC/MS or GC/MS for applications in forensic analysis, urine drug testing, clinical toxicology, or pain prescription monitoring. Sold under trade names such as Soma and Sanoma, carisoprodol is a skeletal muscle relaxant that is often abused recreationally. Carisoprodol is purportedly used by drug users to potentiate the effects of other narcotics.

Application

  • Pharmacotherapy for Spine-Related Pain in Older Adults: This study explores various pharmacotherapeutic approaches, including Carisoprodol, for managing spine-related pain in older adults, emphasizing its efficacy and safety within geriatric care (Fu JL, Perloff MD, 2022).

  • Rapid Extraction and Qualitative Screening of 30 Drugs in Oral Fluid: Demonstrates the application of Carisoprodol in forensic toxicology by detailing methods for rapid drug screening in oral fluid, specifically for driving under the influence of drugs (DUID) cases (Coulter C, Garnier M, Moore C, 2022).

  • Single and Multiple Dose PK-PD Characterization for Carisoprodol: Discusses a clinical trial that characterizes the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of Carisoprodol in healthy volunteers, assessing the impact of the CYP2C19 phenotype on its metabolism (Calvo A, Alonso S, Prieto E, et al., 2022).

  • Tizanidine: Advances in Pharmacology & Therapeutics and Drug Formulations: Although focusing on Tizanidine, this review touches upon comparative analysis with other muscle relaxants like Carisoprodol, providing insights into therapeutic advancements and formulation strategies (Zhu LL, Wang YH, Zhou Q, 2024).
