General description

Bis(monoacylglycerol)phosphate (BMP), an acidic phospholipid is mostly found in the lysosomal and endosomal compartments within cells.

Application

18:1 BMP (S,R) is suitable for the analysis of Niemann-Pick C2 (NPC2)-lipid interaction.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Bis(monoacylglycerol)phosphate (BMP) plays a vital role in late endosomes/lysosomes (LE/Lys) degradation pathway. It is involved in digestion and recycling of membranous materials and synthesis of intra luminal vesicles. BMP also regulates cholesterol homeostasis and trafficking of lysosomal enzymes.
