General description

Isopropyl myristate is mainly used as a solubilizer, emulsifier and emollient in cosmetic and topical medicines. It is also used as a flavoring agent in the food industry.

Application

  • Development of Nanostructured Lipid Carrier-Loaded Flavonoid-Enriched Zingiber officinale.: This research develops nanostructured lipid carriers for flavonoids derived from Zingiber officinale, employing Isopropyl myristate to stabilize these carriers and improve bioactive compound delivery (Shazwani SS et al., 2024).

  • Comparative evaluation of physical and chemical enhancement techniques for transdermal delivery of linagliptin.: The study compares various enhancement methods for transdermal drug delivery, including the use of Isopropyl myristate, highlighting its effectiveness in permeation enhancement techniques (Karve T et al., 2024).

  • Optimization of Conditions of Zanthoxylum Alkylamides Liposomes by Response Surface Methodology and the Absorption Characteristics of Liposomes in the Caco-2 Cell Monolayer Model.: This research optimizes liposome formulations containing Zanthoxylum alkylamides, with Isopropyl myristate being crucial in liposome stability and absorption characteristics (Wang R et al., 2024).

In this study, microemulsion microstructures, key formulation variables, and their relationship to drug transdermal permeation enhancement were investigated. A microemulsion system with high water soluble capacity was developed, using isopropyl myristate, Labrasol, and Cremophor EL as oil, surfactant, and co-surfactant

To improve the skin permeation of naproxen with larger dosage, microemulsion with high content of naproxen was investigated for transdermal delivery and its solubilization mechanism was studied. Naproxen micoremulsions composed of 4% isopropyl myristate, 18% Tween 80, 18% ethanol and

In principle, maximum transepidermal fluxes of solutes should be similar for different vehicles, except when the solute or vehicle modifies the skin. Here we estimated maximum flux, stratum corneum solubility, diffusivity and permeability coefficient for a range of similarly sized
