General description

Trioctylaluminum solution is an organoaluminum compound that is commonly used as a reagent in organic synthesis for a variety of reactions, including alkylations, reduction, and metalation reactions. It is also often used as a cocatalyst in olefin polymerization reactions.

Application

Trioctylaluminum solution (25 wt. % in hexane) can be used as a reagent in the synthesis of amphiphilic block copolymers via sequential anionic polymerization reaction.
