Applicazioni

1-EBIO was used to study the electrical activity modulated by Ca+2-activated K+ channels in rat central neurons. The effect of 1-EBIO on human intermediate conductance channels was studied.

Azioni biochim/fisiol

1-EBIO is an activator of epithelial Ca2+-activated K+ channel also known as the intermediate-conductance Ca(2+)-activated K(+) channel (IK-1) or KCa3.1.
1-EBIO potentiates the secretion of CFTR-mediated Cl ion secretion by activating the basolateral KCNN4 K+ channels in native human colonic tissues. It stimulates the apical Cl channels and Ca+2-dependent basolateral K+ channels to stimulate fluid transport in lacrimal glands.

Experiments were conducted to determine whether the Cl- secretagogue, 1-ethyl-2-benzimidazolinone (EBIO), stimulates Cl- transport in the rabbit conjunctival epithelium. For this study, epithelia were isolated in an Ussing-type chamber under short-circuit conditions. The effects of EBIO on the short-circuit current

The identification of strategies to improve mutant CFTR function remains a key priority in the development of new treatments for cystic fibrosis (CF). Previous studies demonstrated that the K⁺ channel opener 1-ethyl-2-benzimidazolone (1-EBIO) potentiates CFTR-mediated Cl⁻ secretion in cultured cells

The cellular mechanisms underlying pathological alcohol seeking remain poorly understood. Here, we show an enhancement of nucleus accumbens (NAcb) core action potential firing ex vivo after protracted abstinence from alcohol but not sucrose self-administration. Increased firing is associated with reduced

Mood disorders are often comorbid with alcohol use disorder (AUD) and play a considerable role in the development and maintenance of alcohol dependence and relapse. Because of this high comorbidity, it is necessary to determine shared and unique genetic factors

Small conductance Ca(2+)-activated K(+) channels (SK, K(Ca2.1), K(Ca2.2), K(Ca2.3)) are expressed at high levels in brain regions critical for learning and memory. The activation of dendritic SK channels limits the induction of synaptic plasticity that may underlie hippocampal and amygdala
