Azioni biochim/fisiol

TMED6 (Transmembrane emp24 protein transport domain containing 6) is a pancreas secreted transmembrane protein belonging to the EMP24_GP25L superfamily. It is expressed in α cells than β cells of pancreatic islets. TMED6 is majorly involved in protein trafficking and secretion. It has been experimented that TMED6 may responsible for the insulin secretion as well as diabetes development. Knockdown of TMED6 expression has been reported in low insulin secreted cells.
