Informazioni sul gene

human ... AKAP7(9465)

Descrizione generale

AKAP7 is a member of the A-kinase anchoring protein family. It contains a RII-binding domain allowing it to bind to the regulatory subunit (RII) of cAMP-dependent protein kinase A (PKA) targeting it to the cellular membrane or cytoskeletal structures. It has a molecular weight of 36 kDa.

Immunogeno

Synthetic peptide directed towards the middle region of human AKAP7

Azioni biochim/fisiol

AKAP7 is a member of the A-kinase anchoring protein (AKAP) family, a group of functionally related proteins that bind to a regulatory subunit (RII) of cAMP-dependent protein kinase A (PKA) and target the enzyme to specific subcellular compartments. AKAPs have a common RII-binding domain, but contain different targeting motifs responsible for directing PKA to distinct intracellular locations. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described. Additional variants exist, but their full-length natures have not been determined. This gene encodes a member of the A-kinase anchoring protein (AKAP) family, a group of functionally related proteins that bind to a regulatory subunit (RII) of cAMP-dependent protein kinase A (PKA) and target the enzyme to specific subcellular compartments. Protein kinase A anchoring proteins or AKAPs regulate the activity of many ion channels. Protein kinase A (PKA) is a well-recognized target of AKAPs, with other kinases now emerging as additional targets. We examined the roles of epithelial-expressed AKAPs in
