General description

{3,8-diamino-5-[3-(diethylmethylammonio)propyl]-6-phenylphenanthridinium diiodide}.

250 μg/ml Propidium Iodide (PI) in PBS.

Application

Propidium Iodide is a nuclear fluorescent stain used for counterstaining paraffin-embedded, formalin-fixed tissue, to discriminate between live vs. dead cells in flow cytometry, and staining metaphase chromosomes or interphase nuclei that have been hybridized with probes detected with Fluorescein, or equivalent fluors.

Each vial contains 1 ml of Propidium Iodide Solution



Warnings and Precautions

Propidium Iodide is a potential carcinogen. Use extreme caution. Wear gloves and a lab coat when handling. Follow your institution′s guidelines for hazardous waste disposal. Keep tightly capped and limit exposure to light.
