General description

Method: Colorimetric, with test strips, 500 - 1000 - 1500 - 2000 - ≥ 3000 mg/L (Cl-), MQuant®

The MQuant® Chloride test strips are suitable for measuring chloride ions in all natural waters. Their concentration depends on geological factors and the general local situation. Chloride ions react with silver ions, decolorizing red-brown silver chromate. The chloride concentration is measured semi-quantitatively by visual comparison of the reaction zones of the test strip with the color rows of a color scale. Especially prior to performing a COD (chemical oxygen demand) test it is recommended to measure the Chloride level of the sample as this is a mayor interference. Pre-testing samples with MQuant® Chloride test strips allows to choose the correct dilution factor and measurement range for COD testing which saves time and resources.
