Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), also commercially known as K30, is a water soluble polymer. It has a hygroscopic nature with good adhesive properties. It has a stable pH and has the ability to form transparent films.

Application

PVP has a wide range of usage such as:
  • an adhesive for making gluesticks and metal adhesives
  • a dispersant for ceramics
  • coatings and inks
  • formation of synthetic fibres and textiles
  • porous membranes

Other Notes

Polyvinylpyrrolidone is a component of Denhardt′s Solution and is included at a concentration of 1% (w/v) in the standard 50X stock solution.
