Application

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) can be used as an ion-pairing agent in a reverse-phase HPLC system to separate peptides because it enhances peak resolution. It also has low absorption detection wavelengths and is relatively volatile and can be easily removed. For the majority of peptide separations, TFA has been used at concentrations ranging from 0.05 to 0.1%(6.5-13 mM).
