General description

Found only in mammals, Immunoglobulin E (IgE) plays an essential role in allergic reactions and is predominantly associated with type 1 hypersensitivity. IgE is the least abundant immunoglobulin isotype in normal or topic mammals, present at only 0.05% of IgG serum concentrations. It can trigger robust immune reactions, with up to 10 times the typical level detected in the serum of atopic mammals, although increased levels occur only in approximately 50% of mammals with allergic disorders. IgE binds with high affinity to FcRI, found primarily on mast cells and basophils, priming the cells to recognize specific antigens. Once primed and with repeated exposure to the same antigen, these cells release molecules such as histamines, prostaglandins, and leukotrienes, resulting in an “allergic reaction”.

The MILLIPLEX® Mouse IgE Single Plex Magnetic Bead Kit is a single plex kit to be used to measure levels of IgE in only 2 μL of mouse urine, serum, plasma or tissue/cell lysate and culture supernatant samples.

The Luminex® xMAP® platform uses a magnetic bead immunoassay format for ideal speed and sensitivity to quantitate multiple analytes simultaneously, dramatically improving productivity while conserving valuable sample volume.
