General description

The molecular weight and exact mass are averages based on the polydispersity of polyethylene glycol (PEG).

Application

1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[methoxy(polyethylene glycol)-1000] (18:0 PEG1000 PE) might be used to prepare sterically stabilized liposome and study its characteristics by small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) method. It is also suitable for use in cholesterol-free, PEGylated (CF-PEG) liposomes to study its long term stability when loaded with a hydrophilic drug, carboplatin.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphoethanolamine (PE) serves as a substrate for several phospholipids of the cell membrane. It is associated with phospholipid turnover. PE is also found to prevent tumor progression.
