Biochem/physiol Actions

MYO1C, a single-headed class I myosin, localized to the cell surface. It is associated with cholesterol-enriched lipid rafts and enhances their recycling from intracellular compartments to the cell surface. Improper functioning of MYO1C causes disturbed cellular distribution of lipid rafts followed by the accumulation of cholesterol-enriched membranes in the perinuclear recycling compartment, which finally results in enlargement of endolysosomal membranes. Similar to all unconventional myosins, MYO1C also interacts with actin. It participates in the transport of vesicular cargo, such as the trafficking of Glut-4 (glucose transporter type 4), epithelial Na+ channel, podocyte protein Neph1 (nephrin-like protein 1), and NF (nuclear factor)-κB essential modulator.

Features and Benefits

Prestige Antibodies® are highly characterized and extensively validated antibodies with the added benefit of all available characterization data for each target being accessible via the Human Protein Atlas portal linked just below the product name at the top of this page. The uniqueness and low cross-reactivity of the Prestige Antibodies® to other proteins are due to a thorough selection of antigen regions, affinity purification, and stringent selection. Prestige antigen controls are available for every corresponding Prestige Antibody and can be found in the linkage section.

Every Prestige Antibody is tested in the following ways:
  • IHC tissue array of 44 normal human tissues and 20 of the most common cancer type tissues.
  • Protein array of 364 human recombinant protein fragments.
