General description

Copper(II) sulfate (CuSO4) is an anhydrous copper(II) salt. It can be synthesized from CuSO4.5H2O, via dehydration. Copper(II) sulfate adsorbed on silica gel participates in the conversion of secondary and tertiary alcohols to olefins. Copper(II) sulfate-alumina has been employed as a solid-reagent system during the synthesis of benzils.

Application

Copper(II) sulfate (CuSO4) may be employed as metal source in the synthesis of copper oxide (CuO) hollow nanospheres.
