N,O-Bis(trimethylsilyl)trifluoroacetamide with trimethylchlorosilane is a silylating reagent generally used in estrogenic steroid hormone identification and quantification.

Application

BSTFA+TMCS has been used as derivatizing reagent for GC-MS determination of natural and synthetic estrogenic steroids.

Other Notes

The position of the silyl groups has not been unequivocally established. It has been referred to as both N,N and N,O.
