General description

(chromium VI and total chromium) Method: photometric 0.05 - 2.00 mg/l Cr 0.11 - 4.46 mg/l CrO₄ Spectroquant®

The method is analogous to APHA 3500-Cr B and DIN 38405-52.

This Spectroquant® Chromate Cell Test allows the accurate quantification of the chromium(VI) and total chromium concentration in aqueous samples.

Method applied: In weakly phosphoric solution chromium(VI) ions react with diphenylcarbazide to form chromium(III) and diphenylcarbazone which form a red-violet complex that is determined photometrically.

The Spectroquant® Cell Tests come with prefilled 16 mm round cells and all the required reagents to perform the analysis according to the instruction leaflet provided.

All Spectroquant® Cell and Reagent Test Kits are equipped with the unique Live ID (2D barcode) which allows seamless method recognition and contains essential information such as lot number, expiry date, and automatic calibration updates.

Application

  • Environmental Monitoring: Chromate cell tests are widely used in environmental monitoring to detect and quantify chromium(VI) ions in water and soil samples. These tests are crucial for assessing the contamination levels of industrial discharge and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Recent studies have developed advanced methods for simultaneous extraction and quantification of chromate and phosphate ions using nano mixed (Al-Fe-Zr) oxide adsorbents, enhancing the sensitivity and accuracy of environmental analyses (Pala et al., International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry, 2021).
