Application

Epoxide functionalized PEG can be covalently bonded to polymers and biopolymers by epoxide ring-opening reactions. As a surface coating, PEGylated surfaces prevent cell adhesion by entropically driven steric repulsion. For drug delivery, PEGylation increases the hydrophilicity of the drug carrier.
