Biochem/physiol Actions

β-Benzamide adenine dinucleotide (BAD), an analogue of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (β-NAD+), is an active metabolite of benzamide riboside and a potent inhibitor of inosine 5′-monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH). Also, β-Benzamide adenine dinucleotide is a non-hydrolysable substrate/inhibitor of NADases and PARP enzymes. A higher concentration (Ki = 90 μM) it inhibits human NAD kinase.
