General description

MegaCell is a multifaceted media developed to reduce the amount of serum required for culturing mammalian cells in vitro. It reduces the supplementation of fetal bovine serum (FBS) or other serum from 10% to 3% and supports proliferative rates and maximal cell densities. MegaCell enables maintaining a long-term culture of non-fastidious cell lines.

Application

MegaCell Dulbecco′s Modified Eagle′s Medium has been used:
  • as a component of the M10 medium to culture CD133+ cells from biopsies of para-spinal and quadriceps muscle of Duchenne muscular dystrophy patients
  • as a component of the proliferation medium for the expansion and cryopreservation of human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells cultured without feeder cells and human embryonic (ES) cell-derived mesoangioblast-like cells
  • to culture the positive hybridomas during the production of mouse anti-chicken CD25 monoclonal antibodies

Reconstitution

Supplement with 4 mM L-glutamine (20 ml of 200 mM solution, G7513)
