Gene Information

human ... SHC1(6464)

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide directed towards the C terminal region of human SHC1

Application

Anti-SHC1 antibody produced in rabbit is suitable for western blotting at a concentration of 1.0μg/ml.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Src homology 2 domain containing) transforming protein 1 (SHC1; SHC; SHCA) gene encodes three isoforms, p66Shc, p52Shc and p46Shc. p52Shc and p46Shc are involved recruitment of Grb2/Sos complex and activation of Ras pathway. p66Shc is involved in regulating the effects of reactive oxygen species and aging.

Sequence

Synthetic peptide located within the following region: AEQLRGEPWFHGKLSRREAEALLQLNGDFLVRESTTTPGQYVLTGLQSGQ

Physical form

Purified antibody supplied in 1x PBS buffer with 0.09% (w/v) sodium azide and 2% sucrose.

Life expectancy in the last century has greatly increased although, in most industrialized countries, this has been paralleled by an increased incidence of neurodegenerative disorders, in addition to cardiovascular and metabolic pathologies. The p66(Shc) gene has emerged as a novel

The adapter protein Shc was initially identified as an SH2 containing proto-oncogene involved in growth factor signaling. Since then a number of studies in multiple systems have implicated a role for Shc in signaling via many different types of receptors

Hypercholesterolemia leads to a prothrombotic phenotype. Platelet hyperactivity associated with hypercholesterolemia has been attributed, in part, to oxidative stress. P66Shc is a well-known determinant of cellular and organismal oxidative stress. However, its role in platelet biology is not known. We

Recently, iron and the adaptor protein "p66Shc" have been shown to play an important role in the development of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in rats. We hypothesized that changes in muscle p66Shc activity and iron metabolism would appear before visible
