Biochem/physiol Actions

Collagenase chromophore-substrate is specifically cleaved by collagenase between the leucine and glycine residues. Digestion of the colored hydrophilic substrate leads to the colored fragment PAZ-Pro-Leu-OH (II) and the colorless tripeptide H-GJy-Pro-D-Arg-OH (III).
