Application

Fluorescent method for the detection of E. coli.
LST-MUG broth is a growth media, which is used for the selective detection and differentiation of Escherichia coli in water samples.

Preparation Note

Dissolve 36.5 g in 1 litre distilled water and fill into tubes which can be optionally fitted out with Durham tubes. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes.

Other Notes

Fluorogenic assay for rapid detection of E. coli in chilled and frozen foods.

Footnote

We offer two media types: the superior granulated GranuCult® and the cost-efficient powdered NutriSelect® culture media, depending on your needs.
The designations basic, plus, or prime are added to indicate the quality control level, from basic quality control to standard QC plus to prime for full regulatory compliance.

A collaborative study was conducted to compare a proposed LST-MUG method with the AOAC official method for Escherichia coli detection. E. coli produces an enzyme, beta-glucuronidase, which cleaves the substrate, 4-methyl-umbelliferyl-beta-D-glucuronide (MUG), to yield a fluorescent end product. Incorporation of
