General description

Chlornitrofen (Cnf) is a diphenyl-ether-derived pesticide belonging to the nitrophenyl chemical class of compounds. It is a pre-emergence herbicide used to control annual weeds and some perennials, including Eleocharis acicularis and Sagittaria pygmaea in rice fields. The mode of action of Cnf is by the inhibition of a vital enzyme, protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO).

Application

Chlornitrofen may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in river water, air samples and tobacco by chromatography based techniques.

Packaging

Bottomless glass bottle. Contents are inside inserted fused cone.
