General description

Tubulin is the major constituent of microtubules, and microtubules are major cytoskeletal elements. Tubulin proteins undergo a number of post-translational modifications both during individual synthesis and after complete tubule formation. Acetylation of alpha chains at Lys-40 stabilizes microtubules and affects the affinity and processivity of microtubule motors. This modification has a role in multiple cellular functions, ranging from cell motility, cell cycle progression or cell differentiation to intracellular trafficking and signaling.

Immunogen

Epitope: Near N-Terminus
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to a region near the near N-Terminus of human Tubulin acetylated at Lys40.

Application

Anti-acetyl Tubulin (Lys40) Antibody is an antibody against acetyl Tubulin (Lys40) for use in western blotting.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in untreated and Trichostatin A treated HeLa cell lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: 1 µg/mL of this antibody detected acetyl Tubulin (Lys40) in 10 µg of Trichostatin A treated HeLa cell lysate, and not in untreated HeLa cell lysate.
