General description

Chondroitin Sulfate A Methacrylate (CSMA) is a photo- and thermally crosslinkable biocompatible precursor for the preparation of hydrogels used in biomedical applications. Chondroitin Sulfate (CS) is a sulfated glycosaminoglycan (GAG) composed of a chain of alternating sugars, N-acetylgalactosamine and glucuronic acid, and is commonly found in the extracellular matrix (ECM) of connective tissues and cartilage. It is an important structural and mechanical components in tissues and its negatively charged sulfate group is known to interact electrostatically with positively charged growth factors to modulate signaling.
