Description générale

The MYCL proto-oncogene, bHLH transcription factor gene is mapped to the human chromosome 1p34.2 and encodes a nuclear phosphoprotein. The encoded protein belongs to the MYC family.

Application

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

The proto-oncogene, bHLH transcription factor (MYCL) regulates the expression of the target genes. It is associated with cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. The MYCL gene is a proto-oncogene, overexpressed in few malignancies. Single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of MYCL is observed in many cancers. MYCL SNP might serve as a potential marker for gastric cancer.
