Description générale

Oxidase Strips are a rapid diagnostic test for the detection of the cytochrome oxidase activity of microorganisms. Oxidase Test is an important differential procedure which is performed on all gram-negative bacteria that are to be identified. In presence of the enzyme cytochrome oxidase (produced by gram-negative bacteria) the N,N-dimethyl-phenylenediamine, and alpha-naphthol impregnated on the strips react to indophenol blue which is visible by a color change.

Application

Oxidase Strips are used for detection of oxidase production by microorganisms like Neisseria, Alcaligenes, Aeromonas, Vibrio′s, Campylobacter and Pseudomonas.

package of 100 test strips

Composants

The kit contains plastic strips with a paper zone saturated with a solution of N,N-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene diamine and alpha-naphtol

Edible insects present a potential solution to increasing global food insecurity. However, there is limited research on the microbial hazards they may pose. These include opportunistic pathogens like Cronobacter spp. (formerly Enterobacter sakazakii). In this study, nine types of ready-to-eat

On the Trail of Campylobacter - The Campylobacter is one of the leading causes of human gastroenteritis. Common Campylobacter species C. jejuni, C. coli, and C. lari are responsible for most cases of campylobacteriosis. However, other species, like C. fetus, which causes spontaneous abortions, have also been associated with human illness. Campylobacter are Gram-negative, spiral-shaped, microaerophilic and motile bacteria with uni- or bi-polar fl agella

Chromogenic media enable the selective detection of S. aureus, which produce bluish-green colonies that are clearly differentiated from other species.

For microbiologists the most fundamental stain was developed in 1884 by the Danish bacteriologist Hans Christian Gram.

There are many other methods of detection to indicate the presence of E. coli. Review common tests and biochemical reactions for this contaminant.
