Description générale

Fucoxanthin, an abundant marine xanthophyll and a type of sea-weed carotenoid, plays a key role in generating the brown pigment in brown seaweeds. It exhibits pharmacological properties including antitumor and antioxidant properties.

Application

Fucoxanthin may be used as an analytical standard for the quantification of the analyte in Undaria pinnatifida using reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) technique. Its potential as a selective anticancer agent and an active component for the anti-obesity effect in Undaria lipids is investigated.
Refer to the product′s Certificate of Analysis for more information on a suitable instrument technique. Contact Technical Service for further support.

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

Xanthophyll carotenoid pigment extracted from algae. Exhibits anticancer, antioxidant, anti-obesity and anti-inflammatory properties.

Microalgae contain a multitude of nutrients and can be grown sustainably. Fucoxanthin, a carotenoid from Phaeodactylum tricornutum, could have beneficial health effects. Therefore, we investigated the anti-inflammatory, antioxidative and antiproliferative effects of fucoxanthin derived from this diatom in vitro. The
