Description générale

SLFN11, also known as Schlafen family member 11, and encoded by the gene SLFN11, is an interesting protein that is part of our innate defense against retroviruses. The protein is induced by interferon and acts to inhibit the translation of retrovirus specific proteins. SLFN11 also plays a role in cell cycle arrest and apoptosis induction, particularly in response to DNA damage. SLFN11 is localized to the nucleus and is widely expressed and up regulated in various cancers including ovarian and adenocarcinomas, and recent work suggests that SLFN11 may behave as a biomarker for prediction of response to DNA-damaging agents in the clinical setting.

Western Blotting/Immunoprecipitation Analysis: A representative lot immunoprecipitated SLFN11 from transfected HEK293 cell lysates. The same lot was used to detect SLFN11 in Western Blotting (Prof. Michael David, University of California, San Diego.).

Electron Mobility Shift Assay Analysis: A representative lot from an independent laboratory detected SLFN11 bound t-RNA (Li, M., et al. (2012). Nature. 491(7422):125-128.).

Evaluated by Western Blotting in HEK293T cell lysates transfected with SLFN11 or a negative control.

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:500 dilution of this antibody detected SFN11 in HEK293T cell lysates transfected with SLFN11 and not in HEK293T cell lysates transfected with a negative control.
