HDL mimetic peptide 4F is a brain blood barrier penetrant small amphipathic peptide that exhibits anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-atherogenic properties in animal models. HDL mimetic peptide 4F increases the brain efflux of intracerebrally injected 125I-Aβ42. It suppresses proinflammatory monocytes and macrophages and alleviates post myocardial infarction remodeling in a mouse model.

Several olfactory receptors (ORs) have been characterized outside the olfactory neuroepithelium in neuronal and non-neuronal tissues, where they were implicated in the recognition of diverse chemical signals. ORs have been found to regulate melanogenesis in skin melanocytes, and OR expression
