Human acute plasma cell leukaemia

Cell Line Description

Established in 1989 from the pleural effusion of a 27-year old woman diagnosed with acute plasma cell leukaemia who failed to respond to treatment and died within 3 weeks.

Culture Medium

RPMI 1640 (R0883) + 2 mM L-Glutamine (G7513) + 10% FBS / FCS (F2442)

Subculture Routine

Doubling time approximately 30 hours. Cells grow singly in suspension. Maintain cultures between 5-20 x 105 cells/ml; 5% CO2; 37 °C. Thaw ampoule and perform a cell count, spin out the DMSO and resuspend in an appropriate volume of media to give a cell concentration of 5 x 105 cells/ml. At subculture perform a cell count and maintain cultures between 5-20 x 105 cells/ml, this tends to equate to a 1:3 split every 2-3 days.
