General description

Potassium nitrite is an ionic salt that can be used for a variety of chemical reactions, including configuration inversion, substitution of amines via disulfonylamides, nucleophilic aromatic nitration, diazotization, nitrosation, and nucleoside nitration.

Application

Potassium nitrite can be used as:
  • A nucleophile for the nitrosation of diclofenac and diphenylamine into their corresponding N-nitroso derivatives.
  • A nitrous acid source for the diazotization of arylamines.
