Gene Information

human ... PTK7(5754)

General description

The gene PTK7 encodes the protein named Inactive tyrosine-protein kinase 7 or Protein-tyrosine kinase 7, or colon carcinoma kinase 4 (CCK4). The PTK7 encoded protein is an interesting single pass type 1 membrane protein involved in Wnt signaling. It is interesting because it contains an inactive tyrosine kinase domain yet it is a component of both the canonical Wnt and non-canonical signaling pathways, and operates during embryogenesis and angiogenesis. Moreover, the PTK7 protein functions in cell migration, cell adhesion, cell polarity, cytoskeleton reorganization and apoptosis, and the PTK7 encoded protein co-localizes with MMP14 at cell junctions as well as the leading edge of migrating cells. The PTK7 encoded protein is expressed in lung, liver, pancreas and other tissues like kidney, placenta and melanocytes. The PTK7 encoded protein does not seem to be expressed in colon and has low expression in brain, heart, and skeletal muscle. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-PTK7 mouse monoclonal, clone 4F9 has been tested by western blot against multiple human cancer cells lines and in immunohistochemistry using paraffin-embedded human lung cancer tissue with DAB detection.

Immunogen

Purified protein fragment of human PTK7 expressed in E. coli.

Application

Detect Protein-tyrosine kinase 7 using this mouse monoclonal antibody, Anti-PTK7 Antibody, clone 4F9 validated for use in western blotting & IHC.
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:100 and 1:500 dilution from a representative lot detected PTK7 in human lung and kidney tissues.
