General description

Monoclonal Anti-Actin (α-Sarcomeric) (mouse IgM isotype) is derived from the hybridoma 5C5 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with purified rabbit striated muscle. Actin is one of the major cytoskeletal proteins in eukaryotic cells.

Immunogen

purified rabbit striated muscle

Application

Monoclonal Anti-Actin (α-Sarcomeric) antibody produced in mouse has been used in:
  • western blotting
  • enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
  • immunohistochemistry

Biochem/physiol Actions

Actin plays an essential role in various cellular processes including cell migration, cytokinesis, vesicle transport, and contractile force generation. Pathological conditions influenced by genetic and/or environmental factors causes variations in the sarcomeric actin filaments. These variations in the actin filaments leads to the development of congenital myopathy, a genetic muscle disorder.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
