General description

SLC9A1 (solute carrier family 9 member A1)/Na+/H+ exchanger 1 (NHE1), a plasma membrane transporter, is mapped to human chromosome 1p36. It belongs to the NHE family. NHE1 is abundantly expressed in all organisms.

Immunogen

a 17 amino acid peptide near the center of the human Nhe-1.

Application

Anti-Nhe-1 (ab2) antibody has been used in immunohistochemistry.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Na+/H+ exchanger 1 (NHE1) modulates intracellular pH by exchanging a proton for an extracellular sodium ion and affects cell growth, proliferation, migration and apoptosis. It plays a major role in cancers including breast cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, colon cancer, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, prostate cancer, cervical cancer and neuroblastoma.

Linkage

The action of this antibody can be blocked using blocking peptide SBP4379.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide
