General description
HER2 (eceptor tyrosine-protein kinase erbB-2) is a cell surface-associated glycoprotein tyrosine kinase receptor.
Biochem/physiol Actions
HER2 (receptor tyrosine-protein kinase erbB-2) is an oncogene and is up-regulated in breast cancer. Overexpression of HER2 is associated with uncontrolled cellular proliferation, resistance to apoptotic cell death and increased motility.
Physical form
Supplied in 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, with 150 mM NaCl, 0.2 5mM DTT, 0.1 mM EGTA, 0.1 mM EDTA, 0.1 mM PMSF, and 25% glycerol.

Overexpression of the ErbB2/Her2 receptor tyrosine kinase in breast cancers is associated with the most aggressive tumors. Experimental studies have revealed that ErbB2 shows many features of a therapeutic target: ErbB2 is able to confer many of the characteristics of

The HER2 gene encodes a cell-surface glycoprotein with extensive homology to the epidermal growth factor receptor. Recently it was found to be amplified in about 30% of primary human breast malignancies. In experiments designed to assess the role of the
