General description

Dulbecco′s phosphate buffered saline is a balanced salt solution, and a fully supplemented isotonic solution. It contains antibiotics and glucose and inorganic ions as energy sources. It is frequently used with primary cells where risk of contamination may be high.

Application

Dulbecco′s phosphate buffered saline has been used :
  • To study how ultrasound could enhance the delivery of anti inflammatory drug through cornea in corneal infections.
  • In the detection of microtubules in sludge worms.
  • For recovering bone marrow cells from the femur of green fluorescent protein (GFP) expressing mice.
  • To study the inhibitory effect of 3-methyladenine on autophagy, in normal rat kidney (NRK) cell expressing GFP-LC3 (autophagy marker).
